Debris fell from a building as a crane collapsed during a strong earthquake in the Philippines.

Video shows chunks of concrete plunging from the Paragon Davao building in Davao City when the construction equipment snapped during the quake on November 17.

Philippine seismology agency PHIVOLCS said in a bulletin that the magnitude 6.8 tremor struck at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles) at 4:14 pm local time. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said no tsunami was expected.

Damage and aftershocks can be expected from the offshore quake, PHIVOLCS said. Intensity 8 were felt in the southern Philippines provinces of Sarangani and South Cotabato while Intensity 5 was felt in Davao del Sur, it added.

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
