This is the dramatic moment a construction crane snapped and collapsed as a powerful earthquake rattled buildings in the Philippines today.

Video shows the heavy equipment swaying violently before folding over and dangling next to the building in Davao City, Davao del Sur on November 17.

Philippine seismology agency PHIVOLCS said in a bulletin that the magnitude 6.8 tremor struck at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles) at 4:14 pm local time. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said no tsunami was expected.

Damage and aftershocks can be expected from the offshore quake, PHIVOLCS said. Intensity 8 were felt in the southern Philippines provinces of Sarangani and South Cotabato while Intensity 5 was felt in Davao del Sur, it added.

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
