Heroic residents save unconscious driver after dramatic car crash in China
Heroic residents saved an unconscious driver after the vehicle crashed into a tree in eastern China.
The video was filmed in the city of Kunshan in Jiangsu Province on November 11.
Five people worked together to break the window of a car to save an unconscious driver inside.
One of the rescuers, Zhang Hongjiang, shared that he was driving when he saw the accident and immediately stopped to help.
"The car was smoking, and the wheels were spinning. I just thought to check if there was anyone in the car. When I got there, I saw the driver was already unconscious in the vehicle. People were already smashing the window with bricks. Then we took turns hammering with a window breaker, and finally, a physics teacher broke it open with a hammer," said Zhang.
During the rescue, the smoke from the burning tires was thick and acrid, causing fear among the rescuers, but they were determined to save the driver.
It was later found that the unconscious driver, Mr Hu, is from Anhui and does business in Kunshan. He had been out to buy furniture for his home that day and lost consciousness while driving.
"When I woke up, I was already in the hospital. I really need to thank these kind-hearted people," Hu expressed his gratitude. After receiving medical treatment, he was out of danger and continued to receive further treatment in the hospital.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
