A funny video has emerged from Los Angeles, USA of a dog staging a remarkable breakout.

Sick of 8-year-old Bodhi's raids on the kitchen, his owners installed a steel gate in their home to contain him in the main part of the house.

The beefed up security measures appeared to be working, but when they started coming home to find rubbish strewn around the kitchen and Bodhi still in the main part of the house, they decided to install a camera to catch this Hairy Houdini in the act.

The video show Bodhi is a as much a contortionist as he is escapologist, somehow squeezing himself under the bottom of the gate and scrabbling through into the kitchen.

"I finally caught him in the act," he owner wrote online.

My 8 year old american bulldog mix Bodhi has been terrorizing our kitchen for several years and the steel jewelry store gate I installed had thwarted his efforts until recently. We started coming home to explosions of garbage behind the gate, but the dog was back in the house, with no signs of how he had gotten in and out. I finally caught him in the act!
