Police investigate fatal collision between vehicle and man at pedestrian crossing in Nechells, Birmingham
West Midlands Police carry out investigations after a 46-year-old man was struck and killed by the driver of a Toyota Prius.
Unfortunately the pedestrian died from his injuries in the Nechells area of Birmingham, UK on 19 November.
The driver of the Toyota, a man in his 40's, stopped at the scene to help police with their enquiries.
WEST MIDLANDS POLICE STATEMENT:
"We've launched an investigation after a pedestrian lost his life in a collision this morning.
"Police were called by the ambulance service to the junction of Rupert Street and Nechells Parkway, Birmingham at around 9.10am (19 Nov).
"It's believed that a 46-year-old man had been struck by a car as he crossed the road near to a pedestrian crossing.
"The man was treated at the scene, but sadly nothing could be done to save him.
"The driver, a man in his 40s, has been spoken to by police as we begin our investigation to understand the circumstances that led to the collision.
"Forensic examiners will remain at the scene of Rupert Street and Goodwick Way as officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit continue to examine the scene.
"The man's family have been informed and our thoughts remain with them at this sad time.
"There have been witnesses who have already spoken with us, but we would urge anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dash cam footage to contact the SCIU."
