Thousands of people across Cumbria have been taking part in events today to raise funds following the recent devastating floods.

The organisers of 'A Grand Day Out' described the response and unbelievable support as humbling & inspiring as people rallied around the cause.

Around 30 individual events were organised from biking, walking, cycling and sculpture competitions. The biggest one was a Trail race lucky to have near perfect conditions in Askham. Fresh snow, blue skies and sunshine. It was a ten miles across the fells, starting at the village near Penrith with over 400 hardy souls taking part.

The final total raised will be revealed at the Heaton Cooper galleries in Grasmere on Sunday.
