This is the dramatic moment a crane collapsed following an earthquake that killed eight people in the Philippines on Friday, November 17.

Footage shows the metal beams bent double hanging over the edge of the Paragon Davao building in Davao City. Shortly after, the crane plunged to the ground followed by chunks of concrete

Philippine seismology agency PHIVOLCS said in a bulletin that the magnitude 6.8 tremor struck at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles) at 4:14 pm local time. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said no tsunami was expected.

Damage and aftershocks can be expected from the offshore quake, PHIVOLCS said. Intensity 8 was felt in the southern Philippines provinces of Sarangani and South Cotabato while Intensity 5 was felt in Davao del Sur, it added.

The Office of Civil Defense said that at least eight people were killed and 1,500 people affected by the earthquake as of Sunday, November 19.

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
