Bird stuck in glue trap rescued with cooking oil by concerned resident
This is the heartwarming moment a bird stuck in a glue trap was rescued with cooking oil by a concerned resident.
The zebra dove had been baited on the sticky trap when Pan Penpin found it outside her home in Bangkok, Thailand on Thailand on October 29.
Footage shows the exhausted animal covered in thick adhesive with most of its feathers plucked as it struggled to move off the plastic container.
It was taken to the sink and cleaned by Pan, who was wearing thin rubber gloves. She tried to dissolve most of the glue using oil and was given a bath before letting it rest in a cage.
Pan said: ‘I gave it different types of food because I didn't know what it wanted. It wouldn't eat at first and always looked tired.'
She took it to the veterinary clinic to seek help from professionals who advised her to give the bird some time in the sun.
She said: ‘The wound looked better when it was dry. When I let it out, I walked outside the cage, and the bird looked refreshed.'
Thailand, a largely Buddhist nation, believes that kindness towards animals should be encouraged, with temples sometimes being a safe refuge for stray cats, dogs, and even monkeys that don't have homes.
