The Hachijo Oriental Resort was opened in 1968 and was closed in 2006, making it Japan's largest abandoned resort.

Footage shows the overgrown interior of the grand structure with many of its 88 rooms still having beds inside.

Sections of the ceiling are seen to be collapsed yet an impressive chandelier is still in tact.

The filmer said: "There were a few more resort hotels in Hachijo island at that time but many say the Hachijo Oriental Resort is the biggest and the most famous one and it is now called one of three biggest ruins in Japan.
The hotel went out of business in 2006 and since then it has been closed."
