Locals struggled through raging torrents of muddy water as flash floods hit Chumphon province in southern Thailand on November 17.

Footage shows a group of men clearing debris that was blocking a road in the southern Thai province.

However, a sudden surge of water knocked them off balance, with one resident being swept away by the current.

He managed to grab onto a tree and was pulled to safety by the other villagers.

Officials from the National Water Resources Office said a low pressure cell over the Malaysian coastline would cause including isolated heavy showers in Chumphon, Ranong, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat.
