A shearline, a weather system characterized by big thunderstorm clouds caused by the difference in temperatures of air masses from cool northeast monsoon and warm and moist winds blowing from the Pacific, dumped heavy rains on Samar Island, causing severe flooding on Tuesday, November 21.

National weather bureau PAGASA reported that six weeks worth of rain fell in Northern Samar between Monday 8 a.m. and Tuesday 8 a.m.

These videos show people crossing a flooded street in Catarman using a rope set up by local police.
