Locals collected thousands of clams that washed up on the beach after a storm.

Footage shows frenzied residents gathered on the shoreline with buckets and scooping up shellfish with their families in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, Thailand, on November 13.

The one-kilometre stretch of Khon Kian Beach had more than 1,000kg worth of seafood, which was shared by the locals.

Resident Momay said a heavy storm and tidal waves battered their area over the past three days, preventing the fishermen from going into the sea.

But when the currents had calmed down, they were delighted to discover the clams lining the shore.

She said: 'The clams were everywhere.'
