Unique "Hat" Cloud Envelops Summit of Turkey's Agri Mountain
This footage was filmed and produced 23 November 2023.
A remarkable meteorological phenomenon graced Turkey's highest point, Agri Mountain, as a distinctive "hat" shaped lentil cloud formed, veiling the snowy peak. The cloud formation added a surreal touch to the majestic landscape of Turkey's highest mountain, Ararat.
Ararat, with its legendary status and biblical significance as the possible resting place of Noah's Ark, holds a special place in various cultures. Known by names such as Ararat, Kuh - i Nuh, and Cebel ul Haristir in different languages, it continues to captivate the imagination of many.
The historical ascent of Agri Mountain's summit by Prof. Frederick Von Parat on October 9, 1829, challenged the belief, attributed to Marco Polo, that the peak was unconquerable. Dr. Bozkurt Ergor, the former president of the Mountaineering Federation, accomplished the second ascent on February 21, 1970. Climbing was temporarily prohibited in 1980 but was later reinstated in 1998 when the Mountaineering Federation granted permission to a group of climbers.
Standing tall at 5165 meters, Agri Mountain not only boasts geological significance but also continues to allure adventurers and enthusiasts with its ever-changing and awe-inspiring natural displays.
