This is the brave moment a farmer grabs hold of a massive dog that charges at him and manages to restrain it, narrowly avoiding being severely mauled.

CTV footage shows the aggressive Kangal lunging at the man, dressed in all black, as he walked past the cattle pen on his property in Zhejiang Province, in eastern China.

But rather than running away in fear, the man remained calm and grabbed the large beast by the mouth despite it being nearly as big as him.

He then held up the dog by its mouth and its collar and yelled for help. At one point, the Kangal began growling and attempted to free itself, but the farmer can be seen fighting not to let it escape his grip as the footage ends.

The Kangal dog, also known as the Anatolian Kangal, is a large and powerful breed originating from Turkey.

Renowned for its exceptional guarding instincts, strength, and agility, the Kangal is often employed as a livestock guardian dog.
