STORYLINE:

Hamas confirmed Thursday that a four-day truce would take effect in the Gaza Strip on Friday morning.

Over six weeks into the conflict, Gaza residents express hope that there will be lasting peace in the war-ridden enclave.

"I urge all Arab countries to stand with us. There is no food, water, gas, or flour here. I have no money, diapers, or food for my child. How long will we continue to suffer?
We are tired of war. The four-day truce is not enough. We want the war to end."

"We heard that there will be a four-day truce soon. This truce is not enough. What can we do in just four days? I'm displaced here from the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood (Gaza City) after they destroyed my home and my life.
During the four days of the truce, there will be no difference. I will only stay in my tent. I can't do anything during this truce.
I no longer have a house or anything in Gaza City. I'll stay here. What would I do even if I went back there?"

"I hope the truce will be a good thing. I want to return to my house, collect my things there, and see what I can do with my life. As you can see, we are suffering in this horrible situation. There is no water and no life here."

"We only want to return to our home. We do not want to be displaced people living in tents."

I dream of returning home every day safely and seeing my neighbors. I am afraid of the sound of missiles. I heard they destroyed my house, but I hope my house is untouched."
