A huge snake shocked a woman when it slithered across her car's windscreen while she was driving along a road in Thailand.

Dashcam footage shows the 7ft long keeled rat snake slithering onto her grey Mitsubishi Mirage's bonnet while Kusuma, 37, was returning home to Phatthalung province on November 20.

Kusuma used the windshield wiper as the reptile tried to move further up the windshield. She was later forced to park the car and call wildlife rescuers when it entered the engine compartment.

The team combed through the machinery and found the serpent coiled hiding in a tangle of wires. They used snake clamps to drag it out, then placed it in a sack to be released into a forest.

Kusuma said: 'I noticed the snake was there and was scared it could get inside the car. I used the wipers but it still wouldn't go away. I was really frightened so I parked and jumped outside.'

The keeled rat snake, Ptyas carinata, is a non-venomous snake species found in Southeast Asia. It is characterized by a distinct keel, or ridge, along its scales, giving it a slightly rough appearance, and it primarily preys on rodents.
