Five arrested during Pro Palestine protest near US Embassy in Colombo
At least five individuals participating in the protest in front of the US Embassy in Colombo were arrested by the police after the scuffle broke out. The protest was organized by the 'People's Struggle Movement,' aimed at voicing opposition to the United States of America's support for Israel in the Israeli-Palestinian conflicts.
Tension escalated between the police and the protesters when a group attempted to burn an effigy of the U.S. President and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.Initially, three protesters were arrested in connection with the incident. Later, two protesters, who entered the Kollupitiya Police station and behaved aggressively, were also taken into custody. The detained protesters are currently held at the Kollupitiya Police Station.
