Hefei, capital of east China's Anhui Province, is an important production base for NEVs in China. Meanwhile, the city is working to make local transportation greener.

Hefei is one of the first cities in China to start developing green public transportation.

Thousands of electric buses are serving residents in the city proper.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): ZHANG ZHENGFENG, Deputy General Manager of Hefei Bus Group Co., Ltd.
"By the end of 2020, Hefei had been equipped with a fully electric bus fleet on routes in the city proper. There are about 3,600 e-buses operating on 282 routes currently. The annual carbon emissions are reduced by about 40,000 tonnes. The technology of intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs) is also a development trend. Currently, we have already had some intelligent connected vehicles conducting road tests in the city."

Hefei is also ramping up the construction of supporting facilities.

At present, the city has about 22,000 public charging piles of various types.

These include newly built integrated charging infrastructure and energy replenishment stations upgraded from traditional gas stations.
