In the small village of Gumatapura in Chamarajanagar district of southern India, villagers throw cow dung at each other in a day-long festival immediately after Diwali, called Gore Habba.

The merry men also smear themselves and fellow participants with the filth

The ritual of throwing cow dung at one another at the festival after Diwali (also called Deepavali) has existed in this village for centuries.

It has now also become a famous entertainment event, attracting people from all over Karnataka and Tamil Nadu states.
