City of Cape Town Festive Lights switch on marred by Palestinian flag ban
Private security officers contracted to the City of Cape Town and Law Enforcement Officers prevented a number of Palestinian activists from entering the event precinct following an instruction from organisers to not allow Palestinian and other flags in.
A scuffle ensued between a elderly gentleman draped in a Palestinian flag as cellphone foortage was taken of the incident. More activists with flags arrived and chanted " free Palestine".
Moments before the festive lights were turned on a group waving flags and chanting "free Palestine"walked into the venue and waved their flags in the main arena.
