Housewife turns Thai snack into Christmas treats
A creative housewife turned a sweet Thai snack into Christmas treats.
Pathita Aom who also owns a local cafe rolled coloured tapioca flour into different holiday-themed shapes such as flowers, snow man, candy canes, and leaves before cooking them into a dessert called bua loi.
She then poured the characters into boiling water until they were chewy and transferred them to a bowl to cool.
In another pot, she infused sweetened coconut milk, coconut meat, and pandan leaves and poured them onto the Christmas tapiocas.
Bua loi, also known as bua loy, is a traditional Thai dessert consisting of small glutinous flour balls, similar to Japanese mochi, cooked in sweetened coconut milk and sugar.
