A wild boar was spotted making an improbable journey across the mighty Yangtze River in eastern China.

The incredible video was filmed in Nanjing City in Jiangsu Province on November 27.

The personnel on duty at the Jiangsu Nanjing Maritime Traffic Control Centre noticed an unusual sight through a camera positioned on a bridge of the Yangtze River.

The wild boar, with remarkable agility, was determined to cross the river, embarking on an epic journey from north to south. The boar skillfully manoeuvred through the bustling traffic of cargo ships and vessels.

Despite the challenging conditions and the presence of numerous ships, the fearless boar managed to avoid collisions.

Miraculously, after approximately 12 minutes of intense swimming, the wild boar reached the safety of the riverbank. It shook off the water from its body and calmly strolled away.

According to wildlife experts, wild boars are natural swimmers, and their ability to swim is attributed to their unique physical characteristics. Their relatively small body density, shorter limbs, and a larger proportion of their body devoted to the chest and abdominal cavity provide ample buoyancy. Additionally, the oily nature of their fur enhances their waterproofing, allowing them to glide through the water effortlessly.
