Actress Helen George speaks ahead of playing the role of Anna Leonowens in West End musical The King And I, which is set to run at the Dominion Theatre for six weeks from January 20 until March 2.
George says she could not turn down the role, calling it a "feminist chant" for the era that it was set.
The musical tells the story of the relationship between the King of Siam and Anna Leonowens, a British schoolteacher whom the modernist King brings to Siam to teach his many wives and children.
Following shows in Eastbourne and Salford, The King And I will make its return to the West End in January 2024 with shows at the Dominion Theatre, taking place between January 20 and March 2.
