Moataz Fayyad inspected the ruins of his home in the Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, attempting a clean up with family members despite the extent of the damage.

Visiting on Saturday 25 November, they were taking advantage of the truce between Israel and Hamas that brought an uneasy calm to their ruined neighbourhood.

A transcript of the dialogue, with timecodes, follows:

03:05-03:12
Is it your bicycle? Is it great?

03:15-03:19
Take it to your father.

03:22
Give it to me.

05:22
Come and take these out.

05:58-06:20
Moataz Fayyad, I am from the Al-Abraj refugee camp. We came home after they said there was a truce for four days, so we came to fit the house because we don't have another place to go.

06:21-06:34
Every member of the family is in a different place just to protect themselves from death. I mean not to die all together. I mean, losing one or two members of the family is better than losing the whole family.

06:45-06:52
Our neighbourhood is destroyed, there are more than one hundred people dead, no one is left.

06:45-06:52
The children who played in the street were dead.

06:55-07:14
A forty-year-old neighbourhood was destroyed. There is no home left, and there is no one left. Every family has a huge history here.

007:15-07:30
I really don't know what to say. I have no words to describe what I saw. I have nothing to do, everything is gone.

07:34-07:44
We came home for four days of truce and I wish it would be an endless truce. We really had enough, we are so tired.

07:45-08:16
I did all I could do. I will go and bring my family, my dad and my mom are paralysed. I want to live in safety, and I hope it will be for a long time. If it was for a long time, I would also be grateful.

08:17-08:35
We were really in shock to find all the places destroyed. All the people were gone, we don't know what to do. We tried to prepare the house to live in it. My name is Moataz Fayyad.
