Japan: At Least 1 Dead After US Military Aircraft Crashes Off Yakushima, Search And Rescue Operation Continues

A US military transport plane, a CV22 Osprey belonging to the U.S. military's Yokota Air Base in Tokyo, crashed off the coast of Yakushima in Kagoshima Prefecture on Thursday afternoon, November 29.

3 passengers were found by several boats fishing in the area of the crash. 1 person was also rescued by coast guard officers and transported to a hospital but was later confirmed dead.

Six patrol boats and two helicopters from the Japan Coast Guard continued its search and rescue operations through the night.
