Age is just a number and this saying has been proven right time and time again, over the years and it continues to do so. This time, it is Roshini Devi Sangwan, who has proven that it is never ever too late to start working on oneself and success would come if the effort as well as heart is in the right place. Sangwan, aged 68, has decided to break age-related stereotypes and work out at gyms, something that is pretty unheard of and not seen very often.
Roshini Devi has revolutionised the way people look at age. With growing age, a misconception runs through people about losing physical strength and stamina. Besides, for many, the will to live life also diminishes. But not for this 68-year-old lady, who has turned heads and not only become an inspiration for women and people of her age but also youngsters who don't have motivation to work out and focus on fitness.
But how did it all start for her? Well, things weren't very easy for Roshini Devi to start with. 'Sweet are the uses of adversity' wrote William Shakespeare in the popular play 'Midsummer Night's Dream' and she lived this statement. In September 2022, Roshini Devi experienced knee pain and things got aggravated when she fell down in the washroom. Upon being checked by the doctors, she was diagnosed to have Level 1 arthritis, a very common disease that several elderly people across the world experienced. Characterised by severe joint pain and swelling as well in some cases, this is a disease which many people grapple with and are unable to find solutions for. Roshini Devi was faced with a similar situation and things, like in most cases, didn't look too pretty.
But here's where she decided to make a choice between two opposing thought processes--to conquer the problem or let it conquer her. She chose the former and the rest is history. Her son, Ajay Sangwan who is also a gym trainer, advised her to work out and she gladly accepted this challenge after initially being hesitant to do so. Ajay shared that the doctor said that Roshini Devi would not be able to walk without support and it broke her completely. But tough times don't last and tough people do--Roshini Devi indeed was a tough nut to crack for arthritis. She took up gymming with her son and has never stopped working out since. Roshini Devi took up gymming in June 2023. In a video from June 13, 2023 she was seen effortlessly pushing weights with her son seated on top. She lifts weights and also does a lot of cardio-related exercises.
Roshini Devi is now a regular at the gym. She hits the gym for an hour and a half in the morning where she does weightlifting and she spends her evenings engaging in hardcore cardio. Unsurprisingly, the pain in her knees have gone and now she has become an inspiration for many. Of course, all of this didn't come without there being detractors. Many people mocked and made fun of her when she had started working out at the gym. But her continued dedication to working out and consistency in hitting the gym has changed opinions with several of those critics now gearing up to click pictures with her!
