The World Expo -- with a history that goes back to the Great Exhibition in London in 1851 and includes the Universal Exposition in Paris for which the Eiffel Tower was built -- is a showcase that attracts millions of visitors with proposals to meet the challenges of the times.
The outcome of the vote is of prime interest to the kingdom, whose bid was led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, known as MBS, who seeks to give visibility to his country through the organization of major events.
Saudi Arabia also aspires to host the 2034 World Cup.
