Police caught a rampaging wild boar after it injured a security guard in eastern China.

The video was filmed in the city of Nanjing in Jiangsu Province on November 29.

The wild boar, potentially the notorious "cross-river rampage pig" known for its previous exploits roamed through several neighbourhoods and injured a security guard before continuing its frenzied escape and evasion.

Responding swiftly, police initiated a search operation. With the help of tips from residents, they located the boar near a river and attempted to subdue it with a tranquillizer dart.

However, the shot only agitated the animal, causing it to bolt and eventually fall into the river. In a tense moment, while the boar was swimming, authorities fired three more darts, finally managing to subdue the wild animal.

It was then transported to the Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo for rescue.

On November 30, the zoo reported a tragic turn of events. During the tranquilization, the boar inhaled water, leading to severe distress. Despite efforts to save it, the boar died en route to the zoo. Plans were made for its harmless disposal.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
