A savvy mum has revealed how she transformed her bathroom for less than £25 using a bargain hack – but all has not ended well.

Emilee Swaddle recently hit the headlines after sharing her brilliant supermarket trick, sharing the best time of day to get cheaper meat.

Now, the 26-year-old is back with another hot tip for DIY lovers… except, it hasn’t quite turned out like she hoped.

Taking to TikTok, the mum-of-one from Manchester shared her bathroom floor transformation (@homeandfoodonabudget ) and users have lapped it up – with the video reaching 197,000 views.

Emilee explains how she was eager to give her bathroom a makeover but struggled to find an affordable option.

Walking the aisles of Poundland, the mum decided to get creative and save herself thousands.

Picking up an eight-pack of tiles for just £24 and doing the DIY herself – and the difference is astonishing with the stick-on tiles.

“The installation process was really easy, they come with full instructions,” Emilee told http://NeedToKnow.co.uk

“It only took a few hours.

“We [my partner and I] started Sunday afternoon and finished on Sunday evening.”

“I drew up some quotes online and got some samples for flooring but didn’t find anything I loved to match the wall tiles.

“They’re not to everyone’s taste but I quite like them, and wanted to keep them.”

The mum, who moved into her home earlier this year, stumbled across the black and marble tiles while picking up some supplies for other DIY projects.

Emilee didn’t have high hopes for the tiles but was pleasantly surprised.

She said: “I saw the tiles whilst shopping in Poundland for a packet of sandpaper for another job we were doing on the house.

“They were in the DIY section and I decided I could probably fit them myself.

“My partner agreed that we should give it a go and if it doesn’t work we could get a man in to fit another floor in there.

“For such a low cost [product] I wasn’t expecting much.”

Unfortunately, while Emilee was originally happy with the results, she shared an update just a few days ago, revealing that the tiles are already coming off the floor.

While she says they were still “worth a go” due to the low cost, she will have to “keep an eye” on them “re-stick” any that come off.

She said: “Home decorating and DIY is just a bit of fun for me.

“If it goes well, brilliant, if it doesn’t we can always have it fixed.”

But some social media users have had better luck and no issues with the tiles coming off, while others offered tips on how they’ve helped the product stick better.

Chloe said: “I have these in my hallway, they are brilliant.”

Michelle said: “I’ve got these in my toilet, they are good.”

Danni added: “Done my kitchen with these about five years ago, put some extra no nails on them and still going strong.”

Mixxekaila wrote: “My son’s has lasted 10 months so far and we only have one bit of damage.”

Mandy said: “I bought these online as they are only £1. Done my kitchen, toilet and have enough to do my bathroom. Not bad for £30.

Taylor added: “I have the same ones from B and M in my bathroom, 4 yrs later still going strong.” [sic]

Beata said: “I’ve done my toilet with these. After over a month, still there. Just floor need to level…” [sic]

Jen added: “Ohhh these would even do great for the back of the hob.” [sic]
