A man has revealed his spooky encounter while visiting a former war fort – claiming a ghost told him to “get out”.

Tony Ferguson, a professional ghost hunter, is known online to his 235,000 followers for his explorations around the “most haunted” places in the UK.

The 38-year-old previously hit the headlines after entering Snib’s Cave, located in Glasgow, Scotland, where a hermit called Henry Ewing Torbet is believed to have lived for three decades.

While there, a ghost allegedly “hurled a stone” at him and male voices were heard telling him to leave, as well as a child giggling.

Now, in his most recent haunted expedition he’s visited Fort Nelson in Portsmouth, where he claims to have heard several voices shouting “get out” – and left after only 45 minutes.

“I kept hearing a female voice telling me to get out and there was such a heavy presence in the tunnels,” Tony, a personal trainer by day from New Forest, told http://NeedToKnow.co.uk .

“It didn’t feel nice at all and as if I wasn’t welcome, so I decided to go.

“I was very stunned by the voices I caught, where I also heard strange whistling sounds and a deep, raspy voice telling me to leave.

“The whole time I was down there, I didn’t feel alone.”

Tony, who originally visited the famous site in January 2022 with fellow investigator, Paul Cissell, decided to go back on his own on 5 October 2023 to see if there were any other spooky sights.

In a live clip, posted on Facebook, which has racked up over 33,000 views, he shares his experience walking around the deserted tunnels.

Users have flocked to the comments to share what they heard and saw, with many people left “spooked” and other viewers, who warned the ghost hunter to be careful.

“Sounds are well spooky,” Christine said. [sic]

Ramona added: “She must be warning you of someone, Tony.”

“Please be careful with you being on your own,” Patricia commented. [sic]

Gloria said: “[...] they don’t want you there lol, some is following you Tony, and they are not happy, not sure it’s with you or between themselves.” [sic]

“A girls voice in the beginning,” Sherry added. [sic]

Fort Nelson, which is home to the Royal Armouries national collection of artillery and historic cannons, is open to the public to visit for free.

While it’s since been restored from its original Victorian state, Tony claims that paranormal events are often held at the location and is reported to still be “haunted.”

He said: “Many people have had unexplained things happen [while there].

“Personally, I think whoever is in the tunnels has claimed that as their own space and doesn’t like people there for whatever reason.

“I first visited the tunnels in 2020, where I captured a very strange anomaly on camera.

“In this most recent visit, alongside the voices, I could hear footsteps behind me, but when I turned around, no one was there.

“[I also heard] unexplained banging noises.”

Tony also claims to have spotted many objects used during the war, such as guns, which he believes spirits are attached to.

While his recent experience “spooked him” he isn’t done with his investigation.

He added: “I will be returning again [later this year] to see what else I can capture and see if I get the same response.

“I don’t want to overstay my welcome, but there is something very strange going on in these tunnels.”
