A mother has gone viral on TikTok after sharing a video of her baby born 10 weeks early – weighing just 1,390 grams.

Mia Bennett, 26, and her partner Jordan Rogers, 29, were overjoyed when they discovered she was pregnant with twins.

This quickly turned to fear when they discovered her babies were sharing one placenta, causing the pregnancy to be extremely high risk.

Undergoing fortnightly ultrasound scans everything was going well until, at 24 weeks, doctors discovered that one of the twins had abnormal blood flow through the placenta, meaning Mia needed to stay in hospital to be monitored until the birth.

Sharing a video of her experience to TikTok (@miabennet97 ), she quickly gained over 9.9m views.

Giving birth to two baby boys on 23 July 2023, Mia named them Archie and Albie, with Albie weighing only 1,390 grams due to being extremely premature.

“He [Albie] was 20% smaller than his twin and only measuring in the third percentile for his gestation,” Mia, a hairdresser from Auckland, New Zealand, told http://NeedToKnow.co.uk .

“There was a risk he would die in utero if things became worse so I was hospitalised.

“Doctors said they may have to intervene at any moment from the time I was hospitalised, so every extra day that they managed to keep them in the womb longer was a huge win for us, every day counted.

“I did not go into natural labour or have any contractions.

“I had to have medical intervention due to foetal distress after a bad CTG scan showed a drop in my baby's heart rate that did not recover.

“I had an emergency caesarean section at 30 weeks.”

Due to his small size, Albie weighed the same as a bag of sugar, with both he and Archie being rushed to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) immediately.

She said: “When they pulled through we were in disbelief.

“My partner's brothers are identical twin boys just like mine but I never expected I would have twins too!

“After the initial shock, we just felt so lucky.

“After they were born we spent nine weeks with the boys in the neonatal intensive care unit.

“They were hooked up to machines that constantly monitored their heart rates, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation.

“Being born so prematurely their lungs were not yet fully functional and they could not breathe unassisted.”

Despite everything, after nine weeks, the young family were finally allowed to go home.

She added: “Leaving the hospital was the best feeling ever and actually quite surreal.

“It was amazing having family and friends able to meet them for the first time.”

In the clip shared to social media, baby Albie can be seen just after his birth at 30 weeks.

The tiny twin's head fits in the palm of his mum's hand, but already he is stealing hears, leaving viewers in shock and gathering over 791,000 likes and 9,900 comments.
