A woman has shared the horrifying comments she received from trolls online – treating her like a “zoo attraction” and saying she should feel “lucky” if a man wants to touch her.

Ren Willow was born with Amelia, a congenital difference that is characterised by the complete absence of one or more limbs – in her case, the elbows and hands.

The 27-year-old now uses her TikTok, (@nubbeez ), which has over 3.7 million followers, to dispel the misconceptions people have about limb differences and other disabilities.

"I never let my disability stop me from pursuing my dreams," Ren told Jam Press.

"I discovered my love for music and performance at a young age, and it's a passion I carried with me throughout school.

"In 2019, TikTok became my stage."Ren, who is from Michigan, US, uses her TikTok to show her everyday life and to share her experiences with ignorance and discrimination.

In one video, she describes how people treat her like a “zoo attraction”.

In others, she shares her everyday life, including fashion, cooking, and her relationship with her boyfriend.

However, she routinely gets abusive and sexually explicit comments and messages from strangers.

She said: "In the beginning, I was just doing it for fun."When I first started TikTok there was a lot of content that I thought was cringey but also really funny.

“I wanted to get in on that.

"It's definitely had its highs and lows.

“I get a lot of rude comments now that weren't there at the start, but I also get so many kind comments that help drown out the negatives.

"When I made a video saying I don't like when people just grab and feel my hands without asking, a man replied saying 'she should be lucky any man wants to touch her'.

“And the comments are full of filthy men harassing me and saying they'd do it anyway.

“Some even threaten to come after me.

"Sometimes, people will jokingly say, ‘Hear me out’ when they see my content because they think it's funny to find someone with a disability attractive, and then everyone laughs with that person.

"People also ask really uncomfortable questions like how I wipe myself, how I change my tampon, and how I shave my privates.

“They just freely ask me questions that wouldn't ask anyone else.

"I've honestly got to the point that I can't even read my nice comments anymore and interact with my people without getting harassed, so now I have to have my team handle my social media.

“It's so heartbreaking.

"A lot of the time, the comments will hit a nerve in me because it's something that I already think negatively about myself, so I'm hearing it from someone else and not just me.

"One of the comments that bothers me the most is when they say, 'Your boyfriend is only with you because he fetishises you,' which isn't true but that has always been a fear of mine in every relationship.

"It's so hard for people with disability on social media.

“We are seen as animals by a lot of strangers."

Despite the abuse, Ren is determined to keep creating content and raising awareness.

She added: "My life's purpose is clear.

"I want to dispel misconceptions about people with disabilities.

“I strive for representation and acceptance in movies, modelling, and everyday life so that everyone can pursue their dreams and feel comfortable on our planet.

"We're more than a disability.

“It's so annoying to have people always assume we can't do something.

"We can.”
