A woman has been left stunned after Royal Mail delivered a shredded piece of paper instead of her letter.

Naomi Dooner received a clear plastic wallet along with the rest of her post.

It came with an attached note with an apology from the mail delivery service.

The note read: “Our sincerest apologies.

”We’re very sorry the enclosed item has reached you in this condition.”

But when Naomi, of Wrexham opened the packet she was left flabbergasted at the state of her mail.

Just a small strip of a white envelope was inside with just a fraction of the letter.

It had a Royal Mail stamp in the corner.

It appears to have been torn off the entire letter.

Naomi, 27, wasn’t sure how Royal Mail knew it was her letter.

However, she had other mail delivered at the same time – which she thinks explains how they got her address.

Naomi is worried as she was expecting an important letter from the doctors.

Although she is unsure who the letter is from, she is concerned she will miss her appointment.

She said: “At first I was a little curious as I've never received post in one of those plastic wallets before.

”Then I got a bit worried as I was expecting some important mail so was hoping nothing important that had got damaged.

”A lot of commenters said that apparently Royal Mail's sorting machine malfunctions and shreds letters like that occasionally – that's my only guess.

”I Have some important doctors appointments coming up so I was concerned it may be one of them and I'd end up missing an appointment.”

Christine Smith said: “You have to admire them.

”No address and you still got it.”

Justin Pearson said: “Same happened to me, it looked like a dog ripped it to shreds and no explanation either as to how it happened.”

”How do these things even happen,” said another person, called Dannielle.

Stephanie said: “At this point, why even bring it.”

Royal Mail has been contacted for comment
