Supporters of the Just Stop Oil climate action group held a protest outside one of the homes of the British Prime Minister in London's Kensington on Wednesday 29 December.

The group, numbering about 18, beat pots and pans to amplify their demand for an immediate halt to all future fossil fuel licenses in the UK.

Carrying placards with messages like "COP Failure = Crop Failure" and "Arrest the Real Criminals," the activists listened to speeches and a performance by musician Louise Harris of the new single 'We Tried.'

The song reportedly reached Number 1 in an iTunes singles chart and has been endorsed by British celebrity naturalist Chris Packham.

Around 40 police officers arrived at 8:30pm, detaining all supporters under the Police Reform Act. Sixteen were later arrested.

Pia Bastide, a community worker, criticised the authorities for targeting peaceful activists rather than addressing climate concerns.

Simultaneously, generous donors, including Chris Packham, pledged to double donations to Just Stop Oil over the next 72 hours.

The group plans a mass march on 2 December from New Scotland Yard, the HQ of London's police, highlighting ongoing resistance to new oil and gas projects.

The arrest count of Just Stop Oil supporters since October 30 reportedly stands at 657, with nine currently in prison.
