On December 1, 2023, following an extended period of Strombolian activity, Mount Etna unleashed a breathtaking eruption characterized by soaring lava fountains. At its peak, this volcanic event generated an eruptive column that soared to approximately 6,000 meters above sea level. Additionally, extensive lava flows cascaded down the volcano's flanks, with one heading southwest and the other east-southeast, ultimately finding their way into the desolate expanse known as the "Valle del Bove."

The aftermath of the eruption also left its mark on the northeastern slope of the volcano, where ash fall was reported, further highlighting the significant impact of this remarkable volcanic event.

In the evening of Dec. 01, 2023 after prolonged Strombolian activity, Volcano Etna produced a spectacular eruption with high lava fountains, this activity at its apex produced an eruptive column as high as approximately 6,000 metres above mean sea level and long lava flows running down the volcano's flanks, one in a southwest direction and the other in an east-southeast direction, ending up inside the deserted "Valle del Bove." Ash fall affected the northeastern slope of the volcano.
