Mount Marapi, which is located in the administrative area of ​​Agam and Tanah Datar Regencies, West Sumatra (Sumbar), experienced an eruption on Sunday (3/12) at around 14.54 WIB. This eruption threw volcanic ash as high as one kilometer.
Head of the Marapi Volcano Observation Post, Teguh Purnomo, said the eruption was still ongoing.

"We could see volcanic ash as high as 1,000 meters from Bukittinggi," said Teguh when contacted by Kumparan, Sunday (3/12).

This eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 30 mm and a temporary duration of approximately 4 minutes 41 seconds.
