Volcanic smoke could be seen coming out soaring high. Based on Seismogram Recording data from the Indonesian Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation, the height of volcanic ash reached 3,000 meters from the peak that was covered in rumbling.

The mountain with an altitude of 2,891 meters above sea level erupted at 14.54 afternoon, local area. Mount Merapi erupted with an amplitude of 30 mm and a duration of 4 minutes 41 seconds.

Meanwhile, the West Sumatra Natural Resources Conservation Agency revealed. "When the volcano erupted, there were 75 climbers recorded at the peak and currently we and the rescue team are evacuating the climbers."
