Dangling power plug swings as Philippine earthquake rattles home
Footage shows a dangling power plug swinging as an earthquake rattled a home in Bohol province, the Philippines, on December 2 evening.
The quake struck off Surigao del Sur province at a depth of 26 kilometres at 10:37 pm local time, Philippine seismological agency PHIVOLCS reported. It triggered tsunami warnings that were later lifted.
PHIVOLCS said Intensities III and IV were felt in parts of Bohol.
Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr. said in a Sunday press conference that at least one person - a pregnant woman in Davao del Norte province - had died during the quake. Four others were injured, nine were missing, and around 2,600 were affected.
The quake comes two weeks after another powerful tremor shook Sarangani province, also on Mindanao island, on November 17, at least 11 people.
The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
