Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday claimed victory in three key states in state elections, which Modi himself said could mean winning again in the next general election in 2024, in which the incumbent could become only the second person to win a third term since Jawaharlal Nehru, the first to take office after independence in 1947. "Some people say that a 'hat-trick' - victory in the three states - is a guarantee of a 'hat-trick' in 2024. The results show popular support for our battle against corruption," said Modi during a speech, according to the newspaper 'The Times of India'.
