Cranes are operating in Trafalgar Square following the installation of the 76th Christmas Tree from Norway on Monday morning, 4 December. The 19-metre tree looks a bit bare on one side after its 900-mile journey from Oslo. Christmas Lights will be lit up in a ceremony on Thursday, 7 December and the tree will stay on till the beginning of January 2024. The tradition of the tree from Norway as a token of friendship during WWII has taken place every year since 1947. This year's Oslo Christmas tree could be the last one given to London by the citizens of Norway for the reasons of ecology as well as mockery about the quality of Norwegian spruce by the Brits.
