Shocking aerial footage has emerged from the US showing the aftermath of the blizzard that hit the northern Virginia area over the weekend.

The video, filmed on Sunday over a street in Sterling, Virginia, shows cars completely covered by snow, while the roads look unusable.

Nearly 30 deaths have been reported since Friday due to the storm that hit the east coast of the United States, affecting tens of millions of people.

Parts of Virginia were among the worst hit with snowfall in some areas reaching more than 40 inches.
