A lorry door's side panel swung open while it travelled along a motorway in Thailand.

Footage shows the truck's walls unlatching and swaying as it was seen from a car driving behind in Rayong province on November 23.

The vehicle then moved to the edge of the lane and stopped as the driver seemed to have noticed what happened.

No one was hurt or damaged by the incident. Yothin Khamnon, who was driving behind, said: 'It happened so suddenly. He was lucky that there were no cars on the side.'

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
