Motorists miraculously survive as container truck crushes car in China
Motorists miraculously survived as a container truck crushed a car in eastern China.
Dramatic CCTV footage filmed in the city of Suzhou in Jiangsu Province on December 1 shows a red container truck scraping against another container truck attempting a left turn, resulting in a catastrophic flip. The red truck’s container, laden with more than 30 tons of wooden planks, tumbled onto an unsuspecting black car, trapping it completely.
Firefighters rushed to the scene, where amidst the tangled wreckage of metal and traffic lights, they found the car crushed beneath the immense weight of the container. A quick assessment revealed two people trapped inside the vehicle, miraculously alive but in desperate need of rescue.
The complexity of the situation escalated as the firefighters realised the container’s hefty load made immediate rescue impossible. In a race against time, two cranes were swiftly summoned to lift the container, providing much-needed access to the car.
Once the path was clear, the rescue team sprang into action. Armed with hydraulic spreaders, they pried open a gap in the deformed car door, wrenching it open to reach the trapped occupants. After a tense five minutes, both individuals were safely extricated and rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Investigations into the accident revealed the red container truck’s driver’s hazardous decision to speed through the intersection instead of slowing down. This reckless move led to the truck grazing the other container vehicle, resulting in the perilous overturn and the subsequent crushing of the vehicle.
Authorities are now delving deeper into this harrowing incident as further investigations are underway.
