A brackish water phenomenon baffled onlookers in China.

Footage shows the light brown colour of the water contrasting with the blue sea where the Yellow River meets saltwater in Shandong province on June 7.

The Yellow River is considered the most sediment-filled river on Earth, contributing nearly 17 per cent of the world's total fluvial sediment discharge to the ocean.

The brackish water phenomenon happens when freshwater meets saltwater and can be visible as a subtle line or band of different colour or density.
