In a remarkable display of joint capabilities, a U.S. Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey from Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 161 engaged in tilt-rotor air-to-air refueling with a U.S. Air Force HC-130J Combat King II of the 920th Rescue Wing. The operation took place over Arizona during Exercise Distant Fury Stallion 23 on December 3, 2023.
This collaborative exercise, conducted in remote and austere conditions, showcased the exceptional interoperability of the Marine Corps and Air Force. The event not only affirmed the units' lethality but also emphasized their precision and readiness to excel in future operating environments, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region. The successful air-to-air refueling marks a significant milestone in joint operations and reinforces the military's commitment to seamless coordination.
