This is the shocking moment a woman was knocked to the ground when a car park barrier closed on her head as she walked underneath.

CCTV footage shows the woman and her husband walking hand in hand past the gate just as a black vehicle exited the parking lot in Guangdong province on December 3.

Seemingly unaware that the raised gate was about to come back down, they walked right under it, and it struck the woman on the head.

The man first made sure she got out okay, then turned around and began angrily kicking the metal object before forcefully ripping it off and throwing it aside.

After he destroyed the metal arm, he grabbed the woman's hand, and the two walked off as if nothing happened.

However, it was long before law enforcement caught up with him. At that point, he had apparently calmed down and reportedly admitted his mistake.

He compensated for the damage at an amount initially set to CNY 500 (GBP 55) but downgraded to just CNY 300 (GBP 33) on account of his sincere apology. The woman had reportedly suffered a minor injury to her head but was otherwise fine.
