STORYLINE:

The inaugural Asia Future Investment Initiative (FII) PRIORITY Summit was held in Hong Kong, with participants discussing how Asia can influence and drive global development.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): JOHN LEE, HKSAR Chief Executive
"Hong Kong is the world's preeminent gateway, and a "super value-adder" for economies, cultures and peoples, East and West. Of course, all this is made possible by the unique "one country, two systems" principle. And we will continue to play an engaging role in defining and shaping the megatrends of this 21st century."

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): RICHARD ATTIAS, CEO of FII Institute
"Going to Asia for us, it was quite obvious to go to Hong Kong because it is a gate to Asia. And it is, of course, part of the largest economy in Asia, which is China. It's a hub, it's a global city. It's a city which had for years and decades, amazing infrastructures, a financial hub, a great stock exchange market. So for us, it was quite natural to start in Asia by Hong Kong."

SOUNDBITE 3 (Chinese): TONY FAN-CHEONG CHAN, President of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST)
"I hope the talents we trained will not only follow the trend, but also create the trend. Young talents from top universities need to have long-term vision and practical knowledge."

Themed "Megatrends Shaping Humanity," the two-day FII Priority Hong Kong edition concludes Friday.

It's attended by about 1,000 participants from many parts of the world, including 100 guest speakers.
