In a remarkable display of aerial prowess, U.S. Air Force HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters, belonging to the 301st Rescue Squadron, 920th Rescue Group, 920th Rescue Wing, executed helicopter air-to-air refueling maneuvers. This operation took place off the coast of San Diego during Exercise Steel Knight 23.2 on December 7, 2023.
The intricate exercise, involving HH-60G Pave Hawks and an HC-130J Combat King II from the 39th Rescue Squadron, 920th Rescue Group, 920th Rescue Wing, is part of a three-phase training initiative. Steel Knight 23.2 aims to equip the I Marine Expeditionary Force with enhanced planning, deployment, and command and control capabilities against peer or near-peer adversary combat forces. The exercise further elevates the live-fire and maneuver capabilities of the Marine Air Ground Task Force, showcasing the coordination and proficiency of the involved units.
