Joint search and rescue teams evacuate body of 23rd victim of Indonesia volcano eruption
Indonesia ends search for victims of volcano after 23rd body found. Some 52 climbers were rescued after the first eruption.
Footage filmed in Batu Palano, Agam, West Sumatra on 6 December shows the joint SAR team evacuating the body of Siska Afrina (22), a hiker of Mount Marapi.
The student teacher candidate, Afrina was the 23rd or last victim to die as a result of being trapped by the eruption of Mount Marapi, which erupted on 3 December 2023.
The victim was due to graduate from her university on 17 December, but mother nature forced her to face God and cancel her graduation.
The Joint SAR Team officers concluded the operation that day with the discovery and identification of the body of the last victim. 75 trekkers climbed Mount Marapi that day, 52 of them survived.
Since Sunday's eruption, Marapi has now erupted 74 times in the week to 10 December.
