Heroic 'Spider-Man' climbs three floors to save girl dangling from window in China
A heroic "Spider-Man" climbed three floors to save a girl dangling from the window in southern China.
The video was filmed in the city of Zhuhai in Guangdong Province on December 5.
A girl was seen dangling precariously from the security netting of a third-floor apartment. Below her, a group of quick-thinking and compassionate citizens sprang into action, spreading out cotton quilts in a bid to cushion her fall should the worst happen. Meanwhile, several others rushed into the building, ready to attempt a rescue from inside.
As the girl struggled for her life, barely clinging on, a moment of extraordinary bravery was witnessed. Mr Zhao, a bystander, quickly set up a ladder borrowed from a nearby construction material shop and climbed up to a billboard. From there, he agilely made his way towards the girl, scaling the exterior of the building with the dexterity of a "Spider-Man," and reached the girl just in time to hold her from the security window.
Recalling the incident, Zhao said, "When I first climbed the ladder, I couldn't reach her. Another man climbed up beneath me and offered his shoulders for me to step on." He continued, "Many people were knocking on doors upstairs, trying to get inside the apartment. I supported the girl from outside, and the people inside pulled her to safety. It was a successful rescue thanks to everyone's collaborative efforts."
Zhao, in his 40s, has lived in Zhuhai City for more than two decades and works at a nearby advertising shop. Following the rescue, he humbly downplayed his heroic actions, saying he had just finished his work and returned to the shop when he stumbled upon the girl in need.
That evening, the rescued girl's family visited Zhao at his workplace to express their heartfelt gratitude, to which he modestly responded that it was just a small effort on his part.
When the local police station contacted Zhao to nominate him for a commendation for his brave act, he declined, saying, "There's no need for any special recognition. I think it was just a small deed!"
